Our second year Photographic Art exhibition was a big success and well worth all the effort and longlonglong days! Opening Night was amazing, would relive it all over again if I could.

To see previews of all the work involved along with shots of the installation process and after party go here:

So lately I've been looking at the photograph as an object for my dissertation (don't worry I won't go into it :P) and wondered what you thought of it all...

Is there a photograph that you couldn't be without? One that you would grab running out of a house fire?

This is aimed towards film or analogue images as well as digital as once the negative is lost or destroyed it's pretty much the same as your computer breaking down without having backed it all up beforehand.. not good!

A photograph I absolutely treasure is one of my parents and myself as a baby as it's the only one ever taken of the three of us, and despite it's imperfections I wouldn't be without it, which makes me all the more aware of its fragility. I've scanned it and printed two copies but even then it wouldn't be the same without the original, and certainly no existing negative to make another.

What's your most important photograph? Or do you not have one?
Let me know what you think, with all the uploaded images everyday do actual photographs have any material importance anymore?

The Latest Project.

I've been looking at ways to combine diary and letter writing and came across the website www.futureme.org/ which you may be familiar with. On it you can actually write to your future self on an email basis to this time tomorrow or any time up to fifty years ahead. So I began toying with the idea of not only writing to your future self but to your past self - were it possible - and what we would say.

I've been asking a variety of people to write two letters; one to themselves ten years ahead (2021) and one ten years behind (2001). The responses I've had so far show advice, guidance and even warnings to the past, helping them to get where they are today and expressing hopes, questions and fears for their future.

If you're interested in participating the letters can be as short or as long as you like, (one person simply put 'Jack it in,' on their past letter!) I will use the letters by putting them over images and they will not be shown publicly; only to members of my course group. They can be written in any form of your choosing: paragraphs, bullet points and even drawings. I only ask that it is no more than one A4 sheet each and signed; preferably on plain paper though it can be on lined if you rather. It doesn't need to be dated though I would like to know your age, but this can be put in the email you send it with not in the actual letter unless you choose to. I will not share any of your information except that already in the letter and your age if you enclose it.

(However if you put personal information in the letters, i.e: phone numbers or addresses I will not use it.)

You can scan it and send to this email elliemillerphotography@hotmail.com

If you have any questions or thoughts about this idea (whether you choose to take to part or not) please also send them to the same email or message me on here.

Thanks guys!

I decided to begin DeviantArt again with a brand new account. My previous account ragdoll-love.deviantart.com/ felt a bit stuck in a rut and the gallery was all over the place so I'm starting afresh.

Through this account I hope to showcase my work in a more organised way and enable people to find me easier with the self named page. I'll continue my previous account until this one is fully underway so I don't disappear entirely from the records!

Please let me know what you think (:

Love Ellie
